The World Subud Association (WSA) is the international organization for the worldwide Subud community.

The World Subud Association (WSA) is the international organization for the worldwide Subud community.

WSA is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit entity incorporated in Washington, D.C., with 54 national member organizations.

The WSA serves members through:

  • Exchanging information and publishing talks from Muhammad Subuh Sumohadiwidjojo
  • Distributing news and information about Subud's activities worldwide
  • Coordinating support for the acquisition and maintenance of latihan premises
  • Organizing international congresses
  • Supporting the activities and projects of member national associations

Our Aim

  1. To facilitate the worship of Almighty God through the Latihan Kejiwaan of Subud and to provide for the other needs of the Subud membership.
  2. To preserve the practice of the Latihan Kejiwaan so that it will remain available to people everywhere in the form in which it was originally practiced under the guidance of Muhammad Subuh Sumohadiwidjojo.
  3. To protect the good reputation of Subud.
  4. To encourage peace, harmony and understanding between peoples regardless of their ethnic origin or religion.
  5. To provide educational and other facilities for the development of the full potential of human beings.
  6. To relieve poverty and deprivation.
  7. To encourage the development of a healthy and harmonious inner and outer environment for the well being of mankind.
  8. To encourage cultural activities and the values which enliven and enrich the human spirit.
  9. To encourage the entrepreneurial spirit which enables people to express their true talents and develop the capacity to improve the quality of their lives.
  10. To make available information concerning the Latihan Kejiwaan of Subud.

Organizational Structure

The WSA is governed by an elected Chair who represents Subud in the world, supported by a Deputy Chair and an Executive Committee that manages day-to-day operations and organizes world congresses.

Zone Representatives from each of the nine zones sit on the WSA to represent their member countries.

The WSA team ensures the aims and mission of the WSA are carried out. Leadership includes:

  • WSA Chair — Represents Subud in the world and advocates for membership concerns.
  • Deputy Chair — Supports the Chair in the overall mission of the WSA.
  • Executive Committee — Maintains day-to-day operations and organizes world congresses.
  • Zone Representatives — Represent the member countries of each zone within the WSA.

The Muhammad Subuh Foundation (MSF)

The Muhammad Subuh Foundation (MSF) is the monetary foundation of the WSA, named in honor of the founder of Subud.

The MSF's purposes include:

  • Building a capital fund to support the global Subud mission.
  • Granting funds for the purchase and maintenance of Subud houses worldwide.
  • Supporting the travel of international helpers.
  • Maintaining the Subud international archives.
